Like Steve mentions in his comment above, it can be pretty slow at times. As long as you know that going in, I think you should give it a shot.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12351431577484530230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-62990055718613934792012-08-01T09:38:38.153-05:002012-08-01T09:38:38.153-05:00The only Tarkovsky I’ve seen are excerpts of The M...The only Tarkovsky I’ve seen are excerpts of The Mirror in a film class I took in college. It was certainly unique but didn’t really draw me to want to visit his filmography. This sounds much more interesting though. Maybe one day I will give Solaris a shot because you make it sound pretty enthralling.Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03015323238572496175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-57847762378178085362012-07-31T12:35:38.257-05:002012-07-31T12:35:38.257-05:00Steve, I can't argue with it being considered ...Steve, I can't argue with it being considered self-indulgent. Tarkovsky was definitely pushing my tolerance at some points. I did watch this over multiple sessions on the train, so that might have made it easier. Even so, I'm glad that I saw it. It might be a while before I revisit it, though.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12351431577484530230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-16186971990937422062012-07-31T11:37:52.990-05:002012-07-31T11:37:52.990-05:00"Languid" is a nice word. It took me three tries to get through this; I fell asleep the first two. There are few moments, particularly one involving a kid, that reminded me of that silly movie. Solaris was a bit more subtle, I'd say.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12351431577484530230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-64469908790056335042012-07-31T01:43:44.077-05:002012-07-31T01:43:44.077-05:00oooo this would be on my list of shame if I had on...oooo this would be on my list of shame if I had one for exactly the same reasons that it's on yours Dan.

Interesting fact I learned recently, the same source material was the basis for the Sam Neil starring Event Horizon.

I'll leave you to contemplate that.blahblahblah Tobyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13370451386116555733noreply@blogger.com
