I can't really argue too strongly against your reaction to Damsels in Distress, especially since you haven't been a big fan of Stillman's other movies. I've heard similar thoughts from a lot of people, so I know that I'm in the minority. I became a huge fan of Stillman in the '90s and was thrilled to see him come back so well this past year. I've thought about revisiting The Master on Blu-ray, but I'm struggling to get that excited to do so. It stinks that your TV has been out for a while; that has to be no fun. Thanks!Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12351431577484530230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-23258522696702182812013-03-26T07:51:44.406-05:002013-03-26T07:51:44.406-05:00Hi Dan...Like you, I wasn't sure what to do wi...Hi Dan...Like you, I wasn't sure what to do with The Master - it didn't make my list, but ended up being my most anticipated DVD release in order to watch it again. I've got the BluRay, but my main TV has been out of commission for about 6 weeks (they've repaired it twice and both times it broke later that evening - I'm working from home today for their third try...), so I'm itching to pop it in the player...

Moonrise, Looper, Argo and Skyfall all ranked for me as well and Beasts and Safety Not Guaranteed hit my Honourable Mentions list (Cabin In The Woods probably should have as well). But I found no room for your Damsels In Distress...I like the concept and I'm fine with the idea of a different world where people talk like these girls do, but I never found a way into it - it didn't feel consistent, I didn't "get" any of these girls and aside from one or two moments I didn't laugh much. But Stillman's other work hasn't resonated with me much, so I suppose it wasn't meant to be...Bob Turnbullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02243657105760780425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-53511038588903587402013-01-22T14:24:08.778-06:002013-01-22T14:24:08.778-06:00Oh Joel. Part of the issue may be the fact that I haven't seen all of the big movies, though Looper and Argo still would likely be on there. I'm also assuming that you wouldn't list Skyfall either given your feelings of Mr. Craig.

I submitted my picks for Lion 4 LAMBS this morning, so they're in the books! I expect that other members won't help to push Damsels in Distress over the top, but I can only hope.
