Now I just do a Blu-ray or DVD review every month or two. I try to pick movies that I haven't seen yet like this one. I checked out your review last week. I think we had a pretty similar response. Yes, I did go to Mizzou back in the late '90s. It definitely helped my writing to go to J School, even if my current job isn't in the journalism world. You're right about Benigni and Down by Law. I also remember liking him in Night on Earth, so I think Jarmusch finds a way to make him work on screen. Or has that always happened? Either way, thumbs up on that. That's a great site.

Second, reading your bio on Pop Matters, I didn't realize you were a Mizzou grad. I'm not surprised. Good writers in the state of Missouri tend to have the distinction of Mizzou J-school degrees. M-I-Z and so forth.

Third, Down by Law is one of my very favorite Jarmusch movies, right behind Dead Man. Waits is perfect for his role, and the film even made me like Roberto Benigni (not normally a fan).
