Survivor: One World, "It's Gonna Be Chaos"

It's hard to remember a Survivor season where there's been so much eating. Pretty much every reward challenge has involved a crazy amount of food and drink. Even so, some players remain obsessed with winning a reward challenge. A wise strategist might realize that you don't want to win this type of challenge. The producers love making this person pick several others to join the reward, and you don't want to be in that position. With only seven players remaining, there are usually obvious choices in this situation. This is especially true this week on the family challenge, which no one should want to win. They get to spend time with loved ones, but it can jeopardize the game. Kat learns this lesson the hard way this week and leaves the game in tears. She might have exited anyway, but her silly pick of Kim and Alicia makes it even easier. It comes down to Sabrina or Kat, and everyone decides to oust the goofy youngster. For more details, check out my latest post for Sound on Sight.

Here are some other interesting points that I didn't address in my review:

  • Alicia is one of the most unlikable players, but she might actually have a shot to win the game. Although she conspires with Kat to vote out Sabrina, she seems to have a solid gauge of what's happening and switches her vote. If the jury sways against Kim and Chelsea, she might slide into a surprise victory.
  • It's impossible to understand how emotional you can get after being on an island for 33 days. Regardless, watching everyone cry after watching family videos is pretty dull. I'm always curious to see which loved one arrives, but most are your standard parents and siblings.
  • There has been a lot of untying ropes this season. I can't imagine this type of challenge is very exciting for the players, and it's extremely dull for the viewer. I really hope they bring back swimming challenges next season.
  • There's only one episode left before the season finale, and this is a really odd group. Kim seems like the big favorite and is getting the winner's edit, but you can't always trust what you see. Few could have predicted that Natalie White or Fabio would take the top prize at this point in the game.
