Once Upon a Time in America (1984) I liked, but had some issues with, I'll take a look at your article. I was on the Matineecast recently, and one of the questions asked up front was what I consider the worst movie I've ever seen. It's obviously subjective, but my answer was Gentleman Broncos. I feel like it was trying so hard to be quirky that it just fell flat.

Also, I actually reviewed Once Upon a Time in America when I did a marathon of movies from 1984 last year. It's easy to locate in the search tool on this site. I think it's a visually stunning movie with decent acting, but I didn't care for it too much. Tim Robbins survived thankfully.

Now if you want to look up the worst movie of all, avoid: Gentlemen Broncos (2009). Kind of amusing, the imdb messsage board supporter calls it a "deliberate failure" :)

By the way, check this link, if you haven't already. Would be cool if you posted on the box office flop Once Upon a Time in America (1984)-because I just watched it. Could be the highest placed flop on IMDB top 250 ?
http://listverse.com/2008/02/11/top-10-box-office-bombs-you-should-see/Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-69487698443517892642012-10-17T00:02:45.691-05:002012-10-17T00:02:45.691-05:00Chip, I agree that calling any movie the worst mov...Chip, I agree that calling any movie the worst movie of all time is impossible. I think Howard the Duck is a mess, but I wouldn't call it the worst thing that I've ever seen. That's a tall order, and it's so subjective. Is this a good movie? No. Do I feel it's the worst movie of all time? No.

You mentioned that it sounds like a story for kids, and that was part of the problem. It was based on a comics line that Marvel split off in the 1970s specifically to do comics for adults. It was the moviemakers that decided to try to dumb it down for kids, and as you pointed out, it just didn't work.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-57675991581801268072012-10-16T13:56:56.364-05:002012-10-16T13:56:56.364-05:00This is definitely one of those cases where you wo...This is definitely one of those cases where you wonder if Hyuck and Katz were involved with some of issues with Temple of Doom or just lucked out with that and Graffiti. Either way, I still think Lucas had the vision for Howard the Duck and was largely responsible for creating the mess. It's hard to say for sure, though. I feel like his involvement here was purely because "I owe these guys..."

GRANTED... Hyuck/Katz also wrote and directed the mess that is "Messiah of Evil"... so, there's that too.

In conclusion, I really think that the team of Hyuck/Katz is a great example of "IDIOT SAVANTE".Kev D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13557162668726460610noreply@blogger.com
