Part of me wants to see more of this world, though there is a small portion that likes the simplicity of just having this one movie. Either way, I'm glad that I finally saw it. Though it didn't do well enough at the box office to warrant an immediate sequel, it'll be cool to see more of this dystopian world and Urban as Judge Dredd. I've also heard they have similar plots, though I only know the basics of The Raid. I'm glad that you're also a fan of Dredd, which is tense and has a fun style. I agree with you in that it was good both partners did not start a romantic relationship because in other action movies they would have. I know this has gotten some flack for using the same premise as "The Raid" and while I do love that movie. I would watch this one again more. I ended up liking it a lot. I agree that the dystopian environment works as it focuses on a certain area, and Karl Urban is fantastic in this. Lena Heady is so bad ass here, too.ruthhttp://flixchatter.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-58951860896625839502014-02-03T20:49:57.618-06:002014-02-03T20:49:57.618-06:00Dan, you make a good point about Dredd and what th...Dan, you make a good point about Dredd and what they could have done with the character in more films. I know that Dredd wasn't a box-office hit, but it's built up quite a following and done well enough to at least consider a sequel. Still, I've heard that it's probably not going to happen, which is too bad. While I was watching it, I kept coming back to the simplicity of it. I don't mean that as a slight at all. It doesn't waste time in unnecessary world building and just throws us into the story. By making him darker and more brooding, you definitely get a sense that there's some reason to develop this guy, and I wouldn't mind seeing that develop over time during some sequels. Don't think we'll ever get that, but hey, it's the thought that counts, right?Dan O.http://www.dtmmr.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-92085347166444363422014-02-03T10:00:06.524-06:002014-02-03T10:00:06.524-06:00I still need to see this. One of the things I love about it is that it tells its story through the action. There's no needless exposition, rather as the action unfolds so does the story. That keeps the film economical and allows it to maintain its tension and momentum.Bill Thompsonhttp://billsmovieemporium.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
