I wouldn't think of being "forced" to watch it, though. It really flies by!Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12351431577484530230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-88730785728491937322015-02-25T19:55:54.940-06:002015-02-25T19:55:54.940-06:00I've heard of this one, I think we discussed i...I've heard of this one, I think we discussed it briefly in one of my classes when we looked at Soviet Montage filmmaking. I've never seen it in full, although from what I did understand it, and Vertov in general, sounded quite a bit different from a lot of the other big Soviet Montage filmmakers like Lev Kuleshov, Vsevolod Pudovkin, and Sergei Eiesenstein (whose first feature film "Strike" was my blindspot last month). It does sound like it could be an interesting experience, and one I probably will have to watch in full at some point. As a film student, watching The Man With a Movie Camera is probably going to happen eventually, though I can't say when. It's like the obligatory Jean-Luc Godard films I get forced to watch at least once a year. After watching it, I can definitely see why it's there. I know that it's also on Amazon Prime, but I think they're also using the Nyman score.
