I agree with your point about Lai, but I didn't find Ho as interesting. It isn't Leslie Cheung's fault, as he does a solid job. It just becomes tedious when they continually go in circles. I do think that's WKW's intention (showing the unfortunate cycles of it), but I found it harder to get as engaged. It's still a solid movie, and I've read a few critical reactions that were closer to yours about it. I just wasn't as intrigued as I was with some of WKW's other films.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12351431577484530230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917634143872972680.post-9656431849498285722012-05-29T10:13:57.272-05:002012-05-29T10:13:57.272-05:00After watching a number of early WKW films I wasn&...After watching a number of early WKW films I wasn't crazy about, this film reminded me of why I was even watching WKW films. I think he does a great job of crafting two psychologically believable characters who constantly lash out at each other in a believable way. Perhaps it's not as stylistically consistent and sleek as some of his other films, but I found the story gripped me a lot more than those other films.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
